PUTA RUG
USD 1,200.00
Polyester
150 x 200 cms (59.05 x 78.74 in)
2008
The idea for this piece emerged in 2005, originally designed as a 120 cm tall sculpture that later spawned different versions; it has been made into t-shirts, rugs, cushions, paintings, etc.
“PUTA” by Aldo Chaparro is a version of Robert Indiana’s famous piece that says “Love,” probably one of the best-selling pieces in art history, and strangely enough, it’s the word LOVE. His tropicalized version originally sought to point out how, in the art world, in one way or another, we all end up prostituting ourselves, understanding prostitution as the act of crossing a line for money.
Over time, the piece took on other dimensions and entered other worlds and meanings. Most of the clients who acquired it were women, brave women who know how to laugh and challenge their environment. And you, do you dare to wear it?
